COMMON QUESTIONS

How good of shape do I need to be in? Campus Chase combines a variety of physical, intellectual, adventurous and humorous challenges. If you come to a ChasePoint that is too challenging, you always have the option of looking for another one. Teams must complete only 8 ChasePoints (out of a possible 15 to 20) . Most of the physical demands of the event will be traveling between ChasePoints. Some teams choose to run, others walk, and some plan their route strategically in order to utilize as much public transit as possible.

How well do I need to know the campus/city? It's a benefit, but it's also expected that you'll learn on the fly. A smart team with a good map and a working knowledge of the transit system will certainly compete for the crown.

What is The Campus Chase "V.I.P. Passing Lane Card"? If you are lucky enough to find/earn a Passing Lane Card throughout your Campus Chase adventure, you can submit it to the staff at the ChasePoint of your choice to gain VIP access.


CHASEPOINTS

Is there a preset course the participants need to follow during Campus Chase? No. Teams are free to chart their own course between ChasePoints throughout the event. In fact, in order to miss delays at busy ChasePoints close to the start line some teams opt to go to the further one and work their way back.

How do I find out the exact location of each ChasePoint? Each team will be given a clue sheet describing the list of the ChasePoints near the start of the event. The list will provide you with the exact location of some of the ChasePoints while providing only puzzles or clues or equations that will lead you to others.

What happens if there is a line up? It is common to be faced with lineups in every day urban life and it is no different in this event. With hundreds of teams hitting the course at once, some lineups are inevitable. Plan your route carefully and remember … you always have the option to move on to the next ChasePoint.

What happens if I can't find a ChasePoint? Keep looking. Be resourceful. Call for help. Ask other teams for support. If you're still stuck, you can always move on to find another ChasePoint ... you only need to complete 10 of the available ChasePoints in order to finish. .

Do we have to eat any gross food? To officially complete Campus Chase you must complete only 10 of the ChasePoints available. It is up to you which ChasePoints you complete, and in which order you do them.


REGISTRATION

Can I register without a partner? Yes, you can! But the entire team entry fee is due at the time of registration. You may change your teammate up until 72 hours before the event but you must ensure that the correct information is recorded when reporting at the pre-race check-in.

How much does it cost? Entry for a team of two is $60 CDN per event.

Do I need to be a Student to participate? At least one member of the team must have valid student identification or be a faculty member. Unless otherwise stated.

How many Teams will compete in each Campus Chase? The field is limited in each market based on various space restrictions but most markets will have roughly 300 to 500 teams.

How old do I have to be to participate in Campus Chase? All participants must be at least 18 year of age at the time of the event

Are there any restrictions on the genetic composition of a team? Both team members need only be human and have a pulse. Team composition is entirely up to you! Boyfriend/Girlfriend, Brother/Sister, Roomies, Neighbors!

Do I have to sign a waiver and release to participate in Campus Chase? Yes.

Can I use a car or taxi to travel the course? No. Teams may only travel by foot or on public transit – any exceptions will be clearly outlined prior to the event.

Can I use roller blades or other wheeled transportation devices? No. Teams may only travel by foot or on public transit – any exceptions will be clearly outlined prior to the event.

What's to stop people from using a prohibited form of transportation? Don't worry … we will know! Top notch video surveillance techniques, an army of field marshals, the other 598 participants, and the thousands and thousands of passers-by who would love to bust a couple of cheaters!!

Can the registration fee be refunded? A refund of 50% of the registration fee will be provided up until 30 days prior to the event. If you wish to cancel your participation for please contact The Campus Guru – a written request must be received.

Please note that there will be no refunds for any reason within 30 days of any race. Races are non-transferable from person to person.

Weather – There will be no refunds provided if event is cancelled due to inclement weather.


THE RACE

How long does Campus Chase last? Each regional event will last 4 hours, followed by an post-party where teams can share the experiences of their adventures with fellow Chasers.

How do I win Campus Chase? The first team to cross the finish line with a passport containing the 8 official ChasePoint stamps (following any rules outlined on the clue sheet) is the winner. To be considered finished a Team must cross the finish line together.
Alliances? Can teams work together during the event? Utilizing the aid of other teams or complete strangers throughout the event is encouraged. Some ChasePoints may actually require you to work with the assistance of others in order to complete the challenge.

PRIZING

1st to 5th Place – To be announced prior to the start of the 2009 Series.

City Chase focuses more on the journey than the destination. As such, a large component of the prizing distributed, will not be based on a team results. Instead, prize winners will be drawn at random from participant feedback forms submitted at the official Campus Chase after party.
